How to file a tenant application at the LTB

1. Name the problem in LTB language

   Illegal entry, harassment, or interference with reasonable enjoyment is often Form T2. Maintenance and repair is often Form T6. Those are different applications with different evidence.

2. Write the facts with dates

   The Board wants when it happened, what you asked the landlord to do, and what happened next. Attach photos, work-order emails, and the lease.

3. Download the current form from Tribunals Ontario

   File online if that portal is available, or follow the filing instructions on the form. Pay the fee or ask about fee waiver through the Board, not through Know The Law.

4. Serve the landlord the way the form and LTB rules require

   Then keep proof of service. A hallway conversation is not service.

5. If the landlord already filed an L1 or L2 against you

   You can still file your own application, but tell the Board about the related file so hearings can be coordinated. Bring both packages.
