About The Founders

The Vision Behind KnowTheLaw.ca

Bridging the Gap Between Law and Reality

KnowTheLaw.ca was founded by John Marshe and Kyra Eves, two dedicated legal scholars currently pursuing their Paralegal licensing in Ontario. Based in the Oakville-Burlington area, John and Kyra recognized that for many Ontarians, the legal system feels like a maze of complex statutes and hidden traps. Their mission is to transform "legalese" into accessible, actionable information for the community they live and work in.

Meet John Marshe

Entrepreneur | Author | Actor | Legal Scholar

John brings an extraordinary breadth of real-world experience to the legal field. As a seasoned entrepreneur, John owns and operates multiple successful ventures, including a cross-border transport company, an asphalt sealing business, and a snow removal company.

His deep roots in the transport industry give him a specialized "insider" understanding of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and the critical importance of CVOR (Commercial Vehicle Operator's Registration) management. John doesn't just study traffic law; he understands the operational and financial stakes of every ticket and audit.

Beyond the boardroom, John is a professional actor (seen in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds) and a 9-book series author. His experience navigating intellectual property, complex contracts, and the professional entertainment industry allows him to communicate legal concepts with a clarity and narrative strength that few can match. At KnowTheLaw.ca, John focuses on Commercial Transport Law, Employment Standards, and Small Claims Litigation.

Meet Kyra Eves

Business Strategist | Social Advocate | Property Specialist

Kyra Eves provides the interdisciplinary foundation of the firm. Kyra holds a Business Administration credential from Mohawk College and a Social Service Worker (SSW) diploma, blending high-level operational skill with a deep commitment to human-centered advocacy.

Kyra’s specialized expertise in Housing and Property Management gives her an invaluable perspective on the Residential Tenancies Act (RTA). Having worked on the front lines of housing, she understands the day-to-day realities of the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) from both the management and occupant perspectives.

By combining her social service empathy with her business acumen, Kyra ensures that KnowTheLaw.ca remains a high-integrity resource. She specializes in Administrative Law, Professional Regulation, and Tenant Rights, ensuring that users understand the procedural "rules of the game" that govern Ontario’s tribunals.

Our Future: Your Advocacy

John and Kyra are currently training to become licensed Paralegals, with the ultimate goal of launching a premier Ontario firm. By building KnowTheLaw.ca, they are creating a foundation of trust and knowledge with the community they intend to serve. They believe that everyone in Ontario deserves to know the law—not just those who can afford high-priced counsel.
