Pregnancy and parental leave basics in Ontario

1. Job-protected leave is not the same as EI money

   The ESA covers the right to take leave and return. Employment Insurance is federal money with its own application. You can be on both clocks at once.

2. Give the written notice the ESA requires

   Dates matter. Keep a copy.

3. If the job disappeared while you were on leave

   That can be an ESA issue and sometimes a human-rights issue. Start with the written facts and the ESA claim path. Get advice quickly.
