Inquest into the Death of Jessie Mayhew Announced

Dr. Laura Piccinin, Regional Supervising Coroner, North Region, Sudbury Office, has announced that an inquest will be held into the death of Jessie Mayhew.

Mr. Mayhew, 27 years old, died in hospital on February 11, 2022, after being transferred from the Sudbury Jail. An inquest into his death is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest will examine the circumstances surrounding Mr. Mayhew’s death. The jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.
