π Tired of Collection Calls?
Know Your Rights in 30 Seconds
If an agency is calling you for a debt from 2020 or earlier, you might be holding all the cards. In Ontario, you have the legal right to stop the harassment.
The "Dispute" Shield: Under Ontario law, if you send a written notice stating you dispute the debt and suggest they take the matter to court, the agency must stop calling you.
Quick Checklist:
- β 2-Year Rule: Most debts are statute-barred after 2 years.
- β No Fees: Agencies usually can't add their own "service fees."
- β Written Only: You can demand they only contact you via mail.
