How to read the Paralegal Rules of Conduct
This page is a public educational walkthrough. It is not a retainer, a court form, or a promise about your result. For legal advice, you should contact an appropriate Lawyer or Paralegal specializing in the area of law you need assistance with.
These rules bind licensed paralegals, not every member of the public
They are still useful if you want to know what a licensee may do.
Open the official text on this site or from the Law Society
Section numbers matter. A summary on social media is not the rule.
Competence, confidentiality, conflicts and the scope of a licence are the usual starting chapters
Read the rule that matches the problem, then the commentary if the official text has it.
Complaints about a licensee go to the Law Society, not to Know The Law
We host information. We do not investigate licensees.
Lawyers use a different set of rules of professional conduct
Do not apply the paralegal book to a lawyer, or the reverse, without checking.
