How to find the environmental statute that applies
This page is a public educational walkthrough. It is not a retainer, a court form, or a promise about your result. For legal advice, you should contact an appropriate Lawyer or Paralegal specializing in the area of law you need assistance with.
Name the activity and the place
A spill, a waste site, a federal work, or a provincial approval. The statute follows the activity.
Ontario rules on this site live under Environmental Law and Ontario Legislation
Federal Acts live under Federal Legislation. Open both hubs if you are unsure.
Approvals and orders have their own numbers
A Director’s order is not the same as the parent Act page.
Use Go to section once you are on the Act
Part numbers in environmental statutes are easy to skip past.
Reporting a spill uses the official ministry or federal channel, not this website’s contact form
We do not take spill reports.
Official law on this site: environmental-law.
